REMINDER: SPARKS, RENO, AND WASHOE COUNTY KICK OFF “BIKE TO WORK” WEEK

Sparks, NV – Join Sparks Council Members Julia Ratti and Ron Smith, Reno Council Members Dave Aiazzi and Dan Gustin, and Washoe County Commissioner Kitty Jung as they kick back their kick stands and pedal from Sparks City Hall to Reno City Hall on Monday, May 17 at 10 a.m.
 
The local officials will offer brief remarks on the importance of bicycle commuting, exercise and safety beginning at 10 a.m. prior to their 5-mile ride from Sparks to Reno.  The event is intended to raise awareness of Bike to Work Week (May 15 – 21), organized by the Truckee Meadows Bicycle Alliance.
 
The Cities of Sparks and Reno, along with Washoe County, are participating in the Commuter Challenge, designed for local businesses and organizations to encourage their employees to leave their car at home and bike to work one day a year or more.
