REGISTRATION CLOSES JUNE 28 FOR JUNIOR GIANTS BASEBALL PROGRAM

Sparks, NV - Children who enjoy baseball have the opportunity to get out and play ball this summer by taking part in the City of Sparks' annual Junior Giants Baseball program. The popular five-week league for youth ages 7 to 11, is offered in cooperation with the National League San Francisco Giants Baseball Organization, the Truckee Meadows Boys and Girls Club and with the support of the Sertoma Club of Sparks.

The Junior Giants Baseball program will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 29 - July 29 at the Oppio Park ball fields, 2355 18th Street. The cost is $5 per participant and children are provided with all of the necessary baseball equipment including a Giants t-shirt and hat.

During the first week of the program, volunteer coaches join with the City's youth sports staff to cover the fundamentals of the game, making sure players know how to catch, throw, hold a baseball bat correctly and hit. From there, participants have regular practices and games.

Register for the Junior Giants program by June 28 online at www.sparksrec.com,  at the Larry D. Johnson Community Center, 1200 12th Street or call 353-7780.
