SPARKS Hydrofest 2012 - Boat racing is coming back to the City of Sparks, Saturday and Sunday, August 18 and 19th after a 20+ year hiatus.  Originally racing at the Teglia Ponds (later re-named Paradise Ponds) the outboard hydroplanes and flat-bottomed runabouts will be churning it up at the newer and highly improved Sparks Marina.  You will see drivers from 9 years old running stock hydroplanes at 40mph to adults skimming the water at speeds close to 100mph.
