Sparks, NV- The City of Sparks will celebrate Arbor Day on April 26 with a special tree planting at Katherine Dunn Elementary School, 1135 O' Callaghan Drive. The ceremony scheduled for 10:00 a.m., honors the 141st anniversary of this special tree-planting day observed throughout the nation.

Arbor Day was first held in Nebraska on April 10, 1872 in celebration of the planting of one million trees in the state. The annual observance was created to promote better communities worldwide by supporting efforts to protect trees and woodlands. Arbor Day serves to encourage citizens to plant trees for the well being of this and future generations.
