COMBO HIP HOP/BALLET
Have a blast learning the latest hip hop moves one week and train technically with the basis of ballet the next. Class will have warm-ups, turn combinations, across the floor sequences and center dance combinations. Appropriate dance
clothing of ballet leotard, tights and ballet shoes, plus loose fitting clothes and jazz shoes are required. Class has recital opportunities.

SHORIN–RYU KARATE Karate originated on the island of Okinawa, Japan. Shorin-Ryu is one of the original styles of Karate with roots that date back several hundred years. Tim Evans, a 7th Degree Black Belt will take students through the foundations of this very effective self-defense system with patience and focus on building confidence, self-esteem and improved physical fitness.

Swing your club for a good cause at the Sparks Mayor’s Cup Golf Tournament, happening October 24 at 10:00 a.m. at the Resort at Red Hawk on The Lakes Course. Proceeds from this annual event benefit at-risk youth in the community who have limited access to recreational programs due to financial hardships.

Now in its 12th year, the Mayor's Cup features a four-person scramble format and plenty of fun with hole-in-one prizes and contests for closest to the hole and longest drive. Lunch and awards will follow play. The entry fee is $100 per player. Hole sponsorships with signage are also available for $100 each.

Registration for the Mayor’s Cup Golf Tournament ends October 20. Entry forms are available online at www.sparksrec.comor at any City of Sparks recreation facility, as well as at Sparks City Hall, 431 Prater Way.

Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation in cooperation with the City of Sparks, Washoe County and the City of Reno, will be leading interpretive hikes in area parks every Thursday at 7:00 p.m. this summer as part of the Discover Your Parks Series. Explore a new park and learn about the unique and varied natural and cultural history of each location. Plan on spending a little more than one hour on the walk. Distances range from .5 miles to 1.5 miles. The next hike will be at the Sparks Marina Park on June 12. The walks are free and open to everyone.
