Each year thousands of volunteers venture out into Northern Nevada to remove illegally dumped trash and pull invasive weeds, making our open spaces safer and more beautiful for everyone who lives in, and visits, Washoe County. This year’s cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, May 10th with a volunteer appreciation picnic to follow at Bartley Ranch Regional Park. Mark your calendars now for the Sparks Fire Department 5th Annual Project SAFE Golf Fundraiser on July 27 at the beautiful Hills Course at Red Hawk Golf Resort.

The fundraiser is held to obtain funds for the purchase of life-saving smoke alarms and fire safety paraphernalia for eligible older homes in the City of Sparks.  This program started in 2007 as an educational program focusing on the importance of working smoke alarms in the home.  Through the funding of a Federal Grant and previous year’s Golf Fundraisers, we were able to purchase and install over 2,500 smoke alarms in nearly 900 eligible homes from 2010 - 2013.  Our goal is to reach the 1,000 home mark in 2014. We are making every effort to continue this program until we have installed new smoke alarms in all city of Sparks homes over 10 years old.  This year, we will also be supporting the Washoe County Youth Firesetter Intervention Program through education of youth that experiment with fire.

We are looking for PlayersSponsors, and Donations for the Raffle and Silent Auction.
