 FIRE PREVENTION PROGRAMS
 
PUBLIC FIRE SAFETY EDUCATION PROGRAM
This program involves educating adults and children in the aspects of fire safety. The Fire Prevention Bureau conducts this education in the schools and businesses using tools such as an interactive Fire Safety House and full-sized Fire Safety Trailer. Tours of the fire stations can also be scheduled through the Fire Prevention Bureau.
 

YOUTH FIRESETTING INTERVENTION PROGRAM

This program provides assistance to children involved in using fire inappropriately. This is a fire awareness and prevention education program for juveniles and their adult caretakers, as well as referral, when appropriate, to counseling professionals.
 
FIRE SAFETY INSPECTIONS
Fire safety inspections are conducted on all "new" developments and business tenant improvements within the city. Fire Safety inspections are also conducted on existing businesses using an annual Target Hazard Inspection Program. Fire inspectors will make every effort to work diligently with property managers to create a safe environment for their employees and customers.
FIRE INVESTIGATIONS
The fire department is authorized to investigate promptly the cause, origin and circumstances of each and every fire occurring in the City of Sparks involving loss of life or injury to a person or destruction of property. The department has trained individuals in the aspects of Arson Investigation.
 
FIRE PREVENTION ENGINEERING
The bureau reviews plans for all new developments, commercial and industrial buildings within the city. Requirements are established for developments utilizing the (adopted)International Fire Code, local Municipal Codes and nationally recognized standards to provide a high degree of life safety and property protection.
