TRAINING DIVISION
- Our primary mission is ensuring professional competency in the delivery of our major operational service areas through training and education.
- Responsible for the documentation of all required training
- Evaluate and implement training programs to meet external/internal compliance requirements (Federal, state, local, departmental)
- Coordinate participation with Partnership Programs (internships with community colleges and local high schools)
Provides training to all personnel to ensure a seamless delivery in the output of services in four major operational service areas:
- EMS
- Fire
- Haz-Mat
- Technical Rescue
- Professional Development and Certifications
EMS TRAINING - Responsible for coordinating all aspects of the EMS program through:
- Policy and protocols
- Licensing of personnel
- Training
- Inventory control
- State and county regulations
- Documentation and risk management assessment through quality assurance processes.
FIRE SUPPRESSION TRAINING - Responsible for training in the areas of:
- Strategy and tactics
- Operational competencies
- Incident management
- Incident size-up and scene safety
HAZ-MAT TRAINING
- Responsible for providing training to prepare for the response to all releases or potential releases of hazardous substances
- Provides safe, expedient services which cannot be handled by other public safety personnel
- Coordinate training, operations and cost sharing as part of the regional team with Reno and Truckee Meadows Fire Departments
TECHNICAL RESCUE TRAINING - Responsible for providing training in the areas of:
- Confined space rescue
- Vehicle and mechanical extrication
- Swift water and ice rescue
- High and low angle rescue
Professional Development and Certification - Responsible for developing and certifying employees in:
- Leadership
- Organizational Positions (Firefighter through Division Chief)
- Specialized Fire Equipment and Skills
- Organizational Management
