City Council Highlights 2.13.11

The following are some highlights of today’s Sparks City Council meeting:

Rehabilitation of C Street Parking Garage- The Sparks City Council voted to approve a contract with Q&D Construction in the amount of $574,000 to rehabilitate the C Street Parking Garage (located at C Street and 10thStreet).  The parking facility was built in 1987 and requires some improvements for drainage. 

Traffic Safety Grant- The Sparks City Council accepted a grant from the Nevada Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety in the amount of $14,016 for electronic equipment to gather data at locations where traffic crashes occur or citations are issued.  The data is used by traffic engineers, law enforcement, and others to provide increased traffic safety.

Resolution- The Sparks City Council passed Resolution 3241 “Supporting a coordinated and cooperative multijurisdictional approach to transportation improvements in northern Nevada and Trans Sierra communities” which reflects a commitment by the City to support transportation and community mobility projects for the region’s economic, environmental and community health and sustainability.

Proclamation- Mayor Martini presented a proclamation recognizing Eyeglass Collection Month (February 2012).  The proclamation recognizes the Lions Club (District 46) for their efforts in supporting the prevention of blindness and advocacy for the blind and visually impaired, and encourages the donation of unused eyeglasses.
