City Of Sparks

Special Events 2016

"It’s happening here" is a tagline that Sparks lives up to by offering some of the best special events in the Reno-Tahoe region. From spectacular fireworks displays at Star Spangled Sparks to tantalizing ribs at the Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-Off or classic hot rod cars at Hot August Nights, events are happening all year long in Sparks. The US Open of Watercross kicks off the spring and family-friendly events continue to fill the calendar with the likes of the Sparks Food Truck Drive-In and Pumpkin Palooza, making for great fun throughout the summer.  If you are interested in producing an event in the City of Sparks, learn more here.

City of Sparks Events Staff Accepts Check from Union Pacific Foundation

The City of Sparks Special Events Division of Parks and Recreation has received a grant from Union Pacific Foundation in the amount of $5,000.00. The funds will be used to purchase new barricades to be used during special events to increase safety for events participants.

The City of Sparks hosts over 14 events in downtown Victorian Square. The city's objectives of hosting events serve three objectives: to encourage economic development, promote tourism and stimulate civic pride.

Union Pacific Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Union Pacific Corporation and Union Pacific Railroad. Union Pacific believes that the quality of life in the communities in which its employees live and work is an integral part of its own success. Originally created as the Union Pacific Railroad Foundation in Omaha, Neb., the Foundation has distributed funds since 1959 to qualified organizations in communities served by Union Pacific. The Foundation is not endowed, but is funded each year from the operating profits of Union Pacific Corporation.
